The college is situated in Guriahati Gram Panchayat, Harinchawra village in the Cooch Behar District. The college is approved by AICTE, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal (Formerly known as West Bengal University of Technology – WBUT) and the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal. The Institute is located at its own sprawling campus of 20 acres and the Institute has essential laboratories and computing facilities, teaching learning tools.
Cooch Behar Government Engineering College (CGEC) is currently running five B.Tech programmes in: Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical Engineering (EE), Mechanical Engineering (ME) and Civil Engineering (CE). Moreover, the department of Basic Science and Humanities facilitates the students of all technical departments with basic science related subjects. Currently there are 33 faculty members, 6 technical assistants serving the institute. All administrative works are distributed in different committees for smooth operation of the system. There are almost 20 classrooms, all separate laboratories for different subjects and separately allotted rooms for essential administrative facilities.
CGEC is also committed making significant contributions in local developmental projects and enriching the quality of life for the people around it.
